Drama: Baby Of Macon
Description:
Yup, the infamous unreleased-in-North-America Peter Greenaway flick. A brutal, beautiful movie about the corruption in all levels of society. The basic story is about the birth of a baby from a supposed-to-be virgin woman, which results in a chain of hysteria about divine intervention during the birth. Doesn't say much, I know, but this is an EXPERIENCE. During the screening at Cannes more people walked out of this film than any other in it's history. A beautiful widescreen print. Sound/picture a 10/10. Adults Only

Drama: Black Belt Jones
Description:
(1974) Directed by Robert Clouse. Cool blaxploitation flick. Okay, the Mob's trying to buy up all the land on a site that City is planning a new civic center- trouble is, the one piece they don't have is the karate school owned by Papa Byrd. Pinky, the mob's rep in the 'black' area is into them for $250,000 but, natch, they'll forgive it if ol' Pinky can get Papa Byrd's school. When he leans on Papa and the students one of the teachers calls Black Belt Jones, and a good thing too 'cause Papa ends up being killed by Pinky. To make matters even more complicated the school is actually owned by Sydney - a kick ass sista'. Think all kinda shit's gonna go down? You bet! A very cool flick. Good Picture and Sound from a loong out of print pre-record source, but as is the case with old VHS pre-records the source was probably a film copy, resulting in the picture being a bit "soft" - with menu and chapter stops. Drama: Blindman
Description:
This Spaghetti Western can be easily ranked as one of the top 20 of all time. T. Anthony was phenomenal for getting bad reviews and especially slandered for his acting he pulled of the blind role amazingly. I definitely agree he is among the better actors such as Nero, Van Cleef, Kinski, and Milian. He is a better actor than Gemma and that is for sure. Blindman is a person who will not quit and is determined not to allow his handicap to get in the way with his business and that is to deliver 50 women to the miners. The movie was actioned packed throughout and kept the audience at full attention. I was honestly thinking to myself how is this plot going to be believable but it is very fun to watch and entertaining throughout. Ringo Starr also appears. The movie added some very funny comedy to it which spiced it up a bit.

Drama: Chromophobia
Description:
(2005) Directed by Martha Fiennes. A very good drama from Britain. It's the story of how several upper-class Brits have become so obsessed with material things and their careers that they have become completely detached from what is most important as human beings: love, professional integrity, friendship and even their own children. Each of the characters will betray one of those ideals, and they will see their lives and relationships come crashing down. Alienating and depressing and in the end.. redemption in the simple dignity of picking up the pieces and carrying on with a brave face. A solid piece of British drama. Great Picture and Sound from an international PAL dvd source with menu and chapter stops. Letterboxed and in English. Sound/Picture 10/10

Drama: DALI
Description:
(1991) Directed by Antonio Ribas. Don't confuse this one with the documentary on Dali. This film is a visually lush biography of Salvador Dali and focuses mainly on his relationship with girlfriend Gala and the time they spent in New York City in 1940 and his early days in Spain collaborating with filmmaker Luis Bunuel. It contains some great visual effects re-creating Dali staples as the melting clocks and nudity too! Great Picture and Sound from an international pre-record source with menu and chapter stops. In Spanish with English Subtitles/ Sound/Picture 9/10

Drama: Fear And Desire
Description:
Directed by Stanley Kubrick. Runtime: 68 min / English / Black and White / Sound: Mono. Kubrick's very first feature film, an impossibly hard to find oddity. Kubrick himself disowned it entirely and truthfully, it plays out as an expirement, a learning experience for the grand master of cinema. It's a black and white WWII tale about a small troop lost in woods behind enmy lines. Despite the fact that the picture/sound on this is probaby a 3-4/10, ya gotta take into consideration the rarity of this must-have for Kubrick fans. We're ALWAYS lookin' for a better print - if y'all know of any drop us a line.

Drama: Fear City
Description:
(1984) Directed by Abel Ferrara. Ah, good old, scuzzy New York city. Home to hookers, pushers, junkies, bums and a crazed manifesto-writing, exotic dancer-killing serial murderer. Matt Rossi (Tom Berenger), a former boxer (of course he's trying to escape his past) currently employed at a talent agency specializing in supplying exotic dancers to the mafia-controlled strip clubs all over Manhattan. Matt and his business partner, Nicky, are under increasing pressure from his mob boss and other bosses to do something but are constantly dogged by Al Wheeler (Billy Dee Williams), a persistent police detective also on the case of the murdered strippers. Throw in Melanie Griffith’s smack-addicted Loretta as Leila, Matt's former flame and you've got a film (shot almost completely at night and in predominately dilapidated locales), that is so mired in squalor and filth that you've gotta shower after watching this flick Needless to say, recommended! Drama: Hannie Caulder
Description:
Directed by: Burt Kennedy. Rating: R (Violence/Adult Situations/Rape & Sexual Abuse/Not For Children) Running Time: 85 Minutes. Starring: Raquel Welch, Robert Culp, Ernest Borgnine, Strother Martin, Jack Elam. I know we say this alot but this is one weird movie. Why? It's one of those movies that makes you wonder what exactly the filmmakers wanted to project. On one hand, you've got the down n'dirty story of Raquel Welch wanting to exact vengeance on the men who raped her and killed her husband. On the other hand, you've got the light hearted sequences Robert Culp tries to teach Welch how to be a gunslinger. On the third hand you've got the villains (Ernest Borgnine, Strother Martin and Jack Elam) acting like dusty versions of the Three Stooges. Like I said: Weird. Great quality: Picture/Sound 9/10

Drama: The Incident
Description:
(1967) Directed by Larry Peerce. A raw black & white drama from 1967 , the film stars Tony Musante and Martin Sheen (in his film debut) as two NYC street thugs who corner several passengers on a subway car and brutalize and humiliate them. This is the kind of 60's-70's social drama that really gets under your skin. You're constantly thinking "won't ANYONE stand up and beat the shit out of these two punks?" but most of the passengers have a mind-my-own-business passivity that lets the abuse to continue indefinitely, some of the victims even turn on each other! It's gritty realism is like watching early Scorsese or Cassavetes. The passengers themeselves are a pretty eclectic bunch: including a baby-faced Beau Bridges, and The Tonight Show's Ed McMahon. Highly recommended! Good Picture and Sound from a loong out of print pre-record source, but as is the case with old VHS pre-records the source was probably a film copy, resulting in the picture being a bit "soft" - with menu and chapter stops. Drama: Isolation
Description:
(2005) Directed by Billy O'Brien. Wow! Irish filmmaker Billy O'Brienin's debut feature, is a grim, gruesome, and gloriously gut churning horror flick about mutated cows and the hapless, doomed, characters stuck on an isolated farm with the bealy bovines. I know it sounds pretty ridiculous but 'Isolation' is waay better than you think. Sure it's a gorefest for you splatterhounds but it's also full of muddy, dirty atmosphere. Unsettling, 'Isolation' is one true-blue shocker. Highly Recommended! Uncut with Great Picture and Sound from an international PAL dvd source with menu and chapter stops. Letterboxed and English. Drama: My Best Friends Birthday
Description:
It's Mickey's Birthday and his girlfriend just left him, so that's when his friend Clarence shows him a birthday he'll never forget. Based upon seeing what little footage remains of this movie, I don't think that the full-length version would have been a great movie. What's seen here is a jumble of different scenes that each advance the story very little. Tarantino clearly didn't yet have a full grasp of more proper ways to plot and execute a story. Still, despite this (and the very primative production values and acting), the footage is a fascinating cinematic document of sorts. The movie is full of ideas (and dialogue) that Tarantino later polished up and reused in other movies (primarily TRUE ROMANCE.) So while this is mostly amateur hour as a *movie*, it is very entertaining as a cinematic notebook.

Drama: Shooters
Description:
There was no script for this movie, only a basic plot outline, every scene was ad-libbed. Set in Liverpool, with the very people who may be heard of in hushed whispers on the street, who were not to be crossed, strangely acting in a film! In my opinion it is a very realistic snapshot of the seedier, more murky side of Liverpool, with gangsters and, as the film title suggests, guns.
